Getting Involved: New Activities for Self Help Clients

We’ve been putting more time into client involvement at Self Help, creating more chances for the people living with us to meet others, try new things, and enjoy activities that feel useful, social, and fun.

So, what have we been up to?

Last October, we asked our service users what kinds of activities they’d like to see. Their ideas have helped us shape a growing programme of sessions, trips, and socials built around what people told us they wanted.

Here are some of the things that have happened so far:

  • Bi-weekly cooking and social sessions in East Bristol, where clients cook tasty, healthy, budget-friendly meals and then sit down to enjoy them together.
  • Weekly football sessions in the city centre.
  • A trip to Ashton Gate to watch Bristol City play, kindly supported by The Robins Foundation.
  • A bowling, darts, and food social at Lane7 in the city centre.

What’s coming next?

There’s plenty more to come. We’re looking at new ideas including a gardening project at our properties, plus another client trip planned for September. We’re excited to keep building on what’s already started and to share more updates along the way.

Keep an eye on our Instagram and website for photos, updates, and news about what’s coming up.
