About Us

Self Help Housing Association is a non profit organisation providing supported housing for homeless client groups. People stay in our accommodation for between 6 months and two years and during this time, we work in partnership to prevent any return to homelessness and ultimately to access a permanent home.

Who We Help

Single People

We can now only accept referrals to our housing through Bristol City Council's Housing and Support Register.

For further details about how to access supported housing via the supported housing register please contact us on 0845 2700 605  or Contact Us by email for further details.

We accept nominations for statutory homeless families from Bristol City Council. For furher details, read on.

Accommodation for Single People

The majority of our single persons accommodation is in shared housing. Residents get their own lockable room and share the reamaining facilities such as the bathroom and kitchen. Our shared housing is dispersed throughout the Bristol area.

We also manage a number of self contained flats for single people, couples and small families. See Services.

Housing For Families

Most of our family properties are managed in partnership with Bristol City Council and are used to house statutory homeless families while a permanent home can be found. For this reason, we can only house families nominated by the local authority.

If you are homeless and have dependants you should contact your local authority homeless section. See Links in the first instance.

Support and Advice for All

We try to help anyone with a housing or support need who contacts us . If we don't have the skills or resources to help, we usually know somewhere that does.

We also offer advice on housing, homelessness, benefits, grants and budgeting and community resources and we also provide advocacy and representation services.

Every Self Help tenant has access to a specialist support worker who can help with a whole range of issues. See Services.
